EYEWITNESSES at a Farnworth fire say a person jumped from a bedroom to get out of a house safely.

An investigation has been launched into the blaze on Francis Street at 6.30pm on Saturday night.

Watch manager Kevin Wright said: "We got reports of people seen in the property which was on fire.

"We were there quite quickly as it is close to the fire station.

"When we got there everyone was out of the building.

"Six people with breathing apparatus and three hoses were needed as it was quite a large property.

"An investigation is underway into the cause of the fire and crews were there for three or four hours."

An eyewitness said: "It was on the one-way street so I parked up to see the house and lots of people were outside.

"There was a person hanging out of the top room and there was thick black smoke coming out of the building.

"I told him to jump out and he did and survived."
