One resident has been going the extra mile and making much needed protective equipment from his own home.
Shane Dean, who lives in Westhoughton, has been making visors over the last month.
Mr Dean also set up a Gofundme donation page on April 9, which has raised over £400, in order to fund the making of the equipment.
He intends to supply these to hospitals and care homes, with a care home in Westhoughton already receiving some.
Mr Dean, who runs the Blue Storm Signs company based in Westhoughton, told The Bolton News that he wanted to contribute in the effort against coronavirus, and help local community services.
He said: “I saw on the news about places crying out for masks and thought 'I can make them'.”
“Since then it’s been going 24/7 to make as many as I can.
“If I make thousands of masks and save just one life, it has all been worth it. It’s all about people pulling together at the moment.”
Woodlands Care Home, Westhoughton, received a number of the visors, encouraging others to donate to help fund the enterprise.
Mr Dean described how the care home was “absolutely made up” with the delivery of visors and that he has been delivering to a number of other areas.
He has delivered to places all around Bolton and further afield, including Atherton, and including Wigan hospital, where his sister-in-law works in the ICU.
