THE Bolton News community heroes campaign has received the backing from Bolton South MP, Yasmin Qureshi.

This week we launched the #lockdownheroes campaign to highlight the fantastic people within our community who are still keeping things moving during the coronavirus crisis.

MP Yasmin Qureshi said she welcomes the work that is being carried out buy community members and that they are truly making a difference.

She said: “I think this is a fantastic initiative and is unveiling those community heroes that we would otherwise have know nothing about.

“Many people across Bolton are doing wonderful things. From those who have gone to volunteer for the NHS to the people who are delivering food to the elderly and making sure that they are OK.

“I am behind the Bolton News campaign all the way and long may it continue. You are helping to reveal the hidden gems in the communities and that’s what it’s all about.

“Thank you to everyone who are making these tough times a bit better.”
Since launching the community campaign we have been inundated with nominations.

Pharmacists, bin men, neighbours and local children are being put forward for the work that they are doing as they keep Bolton moving through the lockdown. We want lots more nominations so that people can get the recognition they deserve.

Karl Holbrook, editor of the Bolton News said: “Please keep your nominations coming.

“It’s stressful for everyone at the moment and this is an ideal time to highlight the good news stories coming from people who are living and working in our communities across Bolton.”

To nominate your community hero get in touch by sending details, including a picture and names, to simone.okane@newsquest.co.uk.
