PETER Kay delighted fans with his first TV appearance in two years.

The Bolton funnyman recreated his hit music video Amarillo - with the help of key workers from around the UK.

Peter introduced the new video on the BBC Big Night In Show from his back garden - in sunglasses, hat and a Hawaiian shirt - eating a Solero ice lolly.

The comedian urged viewers to help with the fundraising effort - but said people shouldn't worry if they could not donate.

He said: "15 years ago I did a sketch for Comic Relief called Is This The Way To Amarillo and I never imagined that it would go down so well and make everyone happy.

"And I thought, what a perfect time to recreate it again.

"So we've asked a lot of you to film yourselves and send it in and listen, if you can help tonight there's a number on screen. If you can't, then don't worry about it. You've got enough going on."

Earlier in the day he thanked fans for sending in their versions of the Tony Christie music video.

Peter wrote: "I wanted to say a huge heartfelt thanks to everybody who’s took the time to film themselves marching to Amarillo.

"We’ve literally received thousands. Lots of very emotional clips from nurses & care workers & key workers & shoe repairers."
