Here’s this week’s community heroes!

The Bolton News:

JEFF ROBINSON NOMINATED BY SHARON ASHWORTH: Mr Jeff Robinson (Robby) is a local man from Bolton who does lots for charity and is a local Karaoke/DJ he is well know in the community and has helped and raised thousands for charity including the Manchester bombings. Around three weeks ago when the lockdown started Jeff decided to open a group called lockdown karaoke to entertain his locals, never did we imagine it would be so big, 3 weeks later we have over 60 thousand members and it has members from all over the world, we have had over 1.1 million posts and the group is growing day to day.  Jeff is a well-respected member of the community he looks after the elderly and even once a week goes singing at the local care home fir the elderly. This group has brought so much joy to many people in these hard times we find ourselves in and we all agree he is our lockdown hero. I hope you see how special Jeff his and give him the recognition he so rightly deserves.

REBECKAH BAHAR NOMINATED BY ANNE HOLIDAY: On behalf of myself and my family I would like to nominate Rebeckah Bahar as our lockdown hero. My grandma was admitted to the Royal Bolton hospital on April 7th with suspected Covid-19

We had no communication with her until she was confirmed and moved to E4 on Monday 12th April. While there, Rebeckah, who has herself been ill has been sending each one of us daily updates, helping her eat and drink, letting us facetime whenever she is at work and being our only source of comfort while we can’t see our grandma.

Our grandma is 85 years old and has lung cancer, but through the help of Rebeckah pushing her on and allowing us to have family time through her phone, she is on the way to recovery and will hopefully be coming home soon. I have attached one of the pictures of my grandma to show how well she is looking after all of Rebeckah’s help.

The Bolton News:

JOLENE CALVERT NOMINATED BY TINA ASHBY: I would like to nominate Jolene Calvert from Bolton, she is a cleaner and lone worker of the retirement housing scheme I manage. Jolene has worked tirelessly seven days a week ensuring the court is sanitised and cleaned to a high standard. Jolene has not had a day off in over five weeks and even came in to work over the bank holiday weekend. Jolene does a fantastic job and always has a smile on her face, she not only cleans she offers support to residents and keeps me informed of any concerns. Jolene is an asset to my scheme and key to keeping us free of Covid-19.

STACEY TAYLOR NOMINATED BY SHARON PHILPOTT: My nominees are Stacey Taylor and Julie Ashton owners and principles of Taylors theatre academy on Ainsworth Lane in Bolton

My daughter jasmine is the oldest member of TTA and has been attending lots of weekly lessons since they opened 2 years ago and my granddaughter Mia-rose who's 6 also attends there's about 120 students ranging from 2-18years attend

Since lockdown Stacey and Julie have started doing virtual lessons in all aspects of dance on a daily basis so all the students can continue to practice at home they also set daily fun challenges for the students to take part in where they win prizes they are always checking in on students to check on their well being and are also their for students parents 24 hours a day they are both amazing

Being a relatively new business the pandemic has been a worrying time for them both but they haven't let this affect the students learning and continued to show commitment to all students we as a family want to personally thank them both for everything they are doing!
