A COUPLE from Horwich celebrated their 8 wedding anniversary in a creative way while in lockdown.

Emily Mayo, an outreach support worker, organised a last minute surprise for her husband Tom, a locksmith, on Tuesday by creating three romantic destinations within their home.

The couple had originally intended on going to the Last Drop Village Hotel and Spa but had to change their plans due to the coronavirus.

Having just moved house in late March, they had decided not do anything for their anniversary this year. But, when Emily realised it was their bronze anniversary, she transformed their bedroom into a spa, their kitchen into a restaurant and their living room into a cinema to surprise Tom.

Emily said: "I was running round like mad setting it up as it was a last minute idea. When Tom got back from work I told him to get dressed up as we were going somewhere.

"I even bribed the kids with sweets and games consoles to keep them busy. I got a personalised balloon and put some signs up.

"We had the Emtom Spa, complete with scented candles, and the kitchen became The Locke restaurant with a three course meal. Then we went to the cinema in the living room.

"It was really nice, we both enjoyed it. Hopefully next year we'll go to the hotel, but it was good to mark this anniversary as we'll never have another one like this again."
