Officers have arrested a man on suspicion of drug driving after he picked up a friend from an unrelated police incident.

At around 2am this morning, May 6, police were called to reports of a "domestic incident".

A man called his friend for a lift after being "removed" from the property.

Once both men has left the home, the driver was stopped by another officer on Tonge Moor Road.

Police allegedly smelt cannabis from the car, and decided to test the driver for drugs.

A Drugwipe saliva test allegedly showed the 30-year-old man was under the influence of cannabis, and he was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

He was taken into custody and asked to provide a sample of blood for further analysis.
