TWO more people have died with coronavirus at the Royal Bolton Hospital according to the latest figures released by NHS England.

One person is recorded as dying with the illness yesterday although, due to delays in reporting deaths, a second person who died on a previous day is also now included in the figures meaning the deaths to date now stand at 187, up two from yesterday's total.

NHS England says 22, 765 people have now died in hospitals in the country, an increase of 332 on yesterday, with 3,397 of them in the North West.

The vast majority of deaths have occurred in the over 60s, with 20,768 passing away after contracting the illness. These statistics do not include people who have died in care homes or the community.

NHS England releases updated figures each day showing the dates of every coronavirus-related death in hospitals in England, often including previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago. This is because of the time it takes for deaths to be confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19, for post-mortem examinations to be processed and for data from the tests to be validated.
