A cyclist has suffered serious head and neck injuries after crashing into a parked car.

The 63-year-old was cycling along a main road just before 9am on Monday when he crashed into an unattended, stationary vehicle,which parked at the side of the road.

The man was taken to hospital and police are now appealing for information as to what happened.

A police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for information after a cyclist was involved in a collision with a stationary car on Blackpool Road, Preston.

"The man, aged 63, was cycling in the direction of Blackpool when the accident occurred just before 9am on Monday.

"He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he is being treated for serious head and neck injuries.

"The parked car, a Renault Clio, was unattended."

Police are seeking witnesses, and would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident or has dash cam footage of the cyclist and car leading up to it.
