A driver has been clocked speeding through motorway roadworks at almost double the restricted limit, before accelerating to nearly 100mph.
On Thursday morning at around 8.30am, officers from the Tac Ops team stopped the VW Golf after following it through the M55 roadworks.
The driver had hit a speed of 80mph - 10mph over the normal speed limit, and 30mph over the restricted limit - before exiting the roadworks and accelerating to 98mph.
A spokesperson for the police said: "Tac Ops stopped this VW Golf after following it through the M55 roadworks at 80mph and proceeded to 98mph after they finished.
"The driver has been reported for speeding offences.
"Their excuse - travelling home after night shift."
