ONE more person has died at Royal Bolton Hospital after contracting coronavirus.

Figures published by NHS England yesterday afternoon confirmed that another patient had died with the virus on Wednesday.

The borough's hospital has now seen 202 patients die after contracting covid-19.

Yesterday, the Department of Health said 36,042 people had died in hospitals, care homes and the wider community after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of 5pm on Wednesday, up by 338 from the day before.

Over 3m tests have now been carried out in the UK, confirming over 250,000 cases of covid-19 across the nation.

As of 9am on Wednesday morning, 970 people in the borough had tested positive for the virus.

Neighbouring Bury has seen 687 confirmed cases, giving the nearby town a higher rate of infection in relation to population size than Bolton.
