POLICE officers were called by a concerned resident who had spotted what they feared was an unexploded Second World War bomb.
But, after arriving at the scene in Bolney, they soon discovered it was not live.
A neighbour was using the rusty ordnance to “weigh things down”.
Mid Sussex Prevention Inspector Darren Taylor joked that the force had uncovered the “biggest paperweight ever”.
He also reassured residents that there was no need to worry as it was not live.
