POLICE will be carrying out extra patrols in Chirk following a spate of anti-social behaviour and criminal damage.
Officers will be increasing patrols in the Pont y Blew are, especially on weekends.
Fence posts on private land have been ripped up by groups of people trying to get access for bikes to ride across fields to the river Ceiriog. Gates have also been left open allowing cows to walk into fields covered in slurry which can dangerous for animals.
PC Angela Faulkner said: “We have had groups of people, some coming from Oswestry and other parts of Shropshire travelling to the Pont y Blew area, behaving anti- socially, damaging fences and entering fields. This land is private and no access is allowed.
“We will be patrolling the area and will take robust action against anyone responsible for anti-social and abusive behaviour or criminal damage.”
