THE year was 1960 and a busy Bolton market hall was doing good business even though a re-vamp was taking place.
To allow for work to be carried out, the number of traders in the market hall on Knowsley Street had been reduced to 64 and shoppers would have noticed that they stalls were closer together than before and that the aisles were narrower.
But this didn’t stop them from turning out in their droves as they took advantage of everything that was on offer there.
