AN inquest has opened into the unexplained death of a pensioner from Ramsbottom.
Bury-born Lilian Walsh, 95, died at North Manchester General Hospital on March 17, 2019.
Mrs Walsh was a retired accountant and widow of chartered accountant Clifford Walsh.
At Rochdale Coroner's Office, police coroner's officer, Paul Lever, said Mrs Walsh was admitted to North Manchester General Hospital on March 16, 2019, after she was brought there by her son, Graham Walsh.
She was found to have viral fractures to her femur and unexplained bruises to her face.
Her condition sadly deteriorated and she died the following day.
Mr Lever added that a police investigation was instigated by Det Insp Alison Witkiewicz and was still ongoing.
A Home Office post mortem examination was carried out by Dr Philip Lumb but a cause of death has not been ascertained.
Coroner Julie Robertson adjourned the inquest to resume at a later date.
