Smokers across the borough are being encourage to quite smoking in a new campaign.

'Bolton Can Quit', an initiative run by Bolton Council and the Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, is asking people to 'quit for covid'.

The campaign aims to help smokers quite during the coronavirus pandemic and also supports a similar initiative run throughout Greater Manchester.

Pharmacies across Bolton will be providing people who want to quite with advice, information and guidance.

This includes informing people on nicotine replacement therapies. These consultations will be carried our over the phone during the coronavirus outbreak.

The campaign is focusing on encouraging pregnant women to stop smoking as well, to ensure that their babies get the best start in life.

Specialist support is being offered by the midwifery service to guide pregnant women through the process.

Mums-to-be who wish to quite smoking can contact this service on 07827 992883 or they can speak with their community midwife.

All smokers can access support by calling the Stop Smoking helpline on 0300 1231044 to talk to a trained advisor.
