THOUSANDS of people descended on Dorset's beaches over the weekend sparking car parking chaos, a spate of litter louts and a selection of campers.
While the seaside car parks became full in the mornings, many people resorted to leaving their cars on double yellow lines, grass verges or any space they could find.
The council's seafront team carried out their morning beach clean on Sunday and reportedly cleared 13 tonnes of rubbish on Sunday before temperatures soared and visitor numbers increased for another day.
As reported, BCP Council leader Vikki Slade, along with other councillors, went down to Bournemouth beach on Sunday and assisted in litter picking efforts.
In recent weeks, beach hut owners have told the Daily Echo, in disgust, about people going to toilet behind their huts and this continued in the past couple of days.
Since lockdown measures were eased there have also been increased reports of camping overnight in camper vans in car parks or tents on the beaches, with one resident even spotting a toilet tent over the weekend.
Issues were not only witnessed in Bournemouth, with residents reporting parking problems at Sandbanks and around Lulworth as people continued to flock to the coast.
Councillors held emergency meetings over the weekend to discuss what could be done about the situation.
