A SINKHOLE appears to have developed at the junction of a main road in Ramsbottom.
The depression in the road has been photographed at Bolton Road West and Lumb Carr Road.
A pedestrian, Elly Goodstead, was walking her dog when she spotted the apparent sinkhole.
She said that she had observed several cars scraping the underside of their vehicles after driving over it.
The junction is close to the Hare and Hounds pub, which sits adjacent to it.
The council has said the road has now been made safe, with further investigations revealing that it was a large void measuring 2mx3m and 3m deep.
There is no right turn coming from Ramsbottom up to Lumb Carr Road.
