HUNDREDS of drivers queued up outside McDonald's in Astley Bridge today, as punters across the town craving a Big Mac or two attended the restaurant's reopening.
Fans of the fast food giant's sizzled in their cars in the scorching heat outside the branch in Astley Bridge as they waited to get their hands on their favourite treats from the golden arches.
Staff in high-vis jackets were instructing drivers in Waters Meeting Road, as the queues snaked through the car park and around nearby roads.
It was one of four McDonald's branches in Bolton to open their drive-thrus this morning.
Restaurants at Middlebrook Retail Park, Derby Street, and Chorley Old Road have also been reopened.
A total of 924 drive-thrus are set to reopen between today and June 4 in line with government guidelines and with strict social distancing measures in place.
After announcing the changes to their service, a McDonald's spokesperson said: "This is only possible following the hard work of the teams in our 44 pilot restaurants.
"Over the last fortnight, our employees, franchisees and suppliers have worked tirelessly to implement new procedures to enable safe working so that we can now help all parts of the UK and Ireland to enjoy the return of the Big Mac."
