A cyclist has been seriously injured after a collision with a 4x4.

The bicycle and Range Rover Evoque collided near the junction of Moorside Road, Arthur Street, and Algernon Street, Worsley, at around 5.50pm on June 7.

After the crash the Range Rover then hit a parked Suzuki Alfo and Ford Transit Connect, according to police.

Following the crash emergency services rushed to the scene and the cyclist - a 30-year-old woman - was taken to hospital where she is receiving treatment for serious injuries.

A 55-year-old woman remains in custody for questioning after being arrested on suspicion of driving whilst above the specified alcohol limit and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

A police investigation is now underway.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information or dash cam footage to come forward.

PC Philip Shaw, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the cyclist and her loved ones, as she receives hospital treatment for serious injuries. Enquiries are ongoing and we are keen to hear from anyone who has information or dash cam footage from the area at the time which may assist us with our investigation.”
