A GANG of burglars made off with a haul of shotguns and cash after a break in.

The trio of criminals are thought to have forced their way into a property in Bolton Road, Aspull, sometime between 1pm and 1.30pm on May 20.

After getting inside the house offenders snatched a "large quantity" of cash and four shotguns.

These guns were legally licensed to the householder who was not at home when the incident occurred, police confirmed.

Following this it is thought that the burglars fled the property and ran across the road in front of oncoming traffic.

Police believe this will have resulted in there being possible eyewitnesses who can help with their investigations.

Detective Constable Cherylin Allen, of GMP’s Wigan division, said: “This burglary happened in broad daylight and we are confident that there may be a number of witnesses who are able to assist with our enquiries.

“We are treating this burglary very seriously and are following all lines of enquiry available to us to find these offenders.”

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the incident police said.

However, they are appealing for the public's help to catch the offenders.

DC Allen added: “If you were in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, or have any dash cam footage of the offenders running across the road, please contact police as soon as possible.”
