TWO cannabis farms have been discovered after a fire and drugs raid.

The first was uncovered on Monday in Ringley Road West, Stoneclough, after emergency services were called to a house fire.

The occupants of the house were then arrested, police confirmed.

A second was found yesterday at a house in Junction Road, Deane.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police's Bolton Intelligence Unit, supported by the Bolton West Neighbourhood Team and Student Officer Tutor Unit, carried out a raid on the property.

Almost every room in the five-bedroom detached house had been converted to grow drugs, police said.

Some 356 cannabis plants were found "at various stages of growth", as well as lighting, ventilation and irrigation equipment.

A man was arrested and remains in police custody for questioning following the raid.

In a statement, officers from GMP Bolton West said: "Investigations will continue once staff complete the mammoth task of dismantling this farm."
