BOLTON funnyman Paddy McGuinness has spoken about crashing his childhood dream car into a field.

The Top Gear host was filming for the new series of the hit show on Tuesday when he lost control of a red Lamborghini Diablo in the Yorkshire Dales.

Paddy posted a video to Instagram from his hotel room, reassuring fans that he was ok after the crash.

He said: "It's been a mad old day on Top Gear today, you might have seen that I've had a bit of a shunt.

"I finally got to drive one of my fantasy childhood cars, the Lamborghini Diablo but it turns out 30-odd-year-old supercars don't like torrential rain, who'd have thought.

"I'm totally fine and fingers crossed we get the car up and running again because it's an absolute beauty

"I'm gonna have a cup of tea, a paracetamol, and a little cry."

The Italian supercar, which hasn't been made since 2001, can set you back up to ÂŁ250,000.

It had to be towed away after skidding into a field at around 3pm.

Paddy's wife, Christine McGuinness, took to her own Instagram to reassure fans, saying: "As far as I’m aware this was a minor incident and he’s absolutely fine, the Lambo got it much more than he did!"

A spokesperson for the BBC said Mr Guinness was given 'medical checks' but was unhurt.

They said: “During Top Gear filming in North Yorkshire today presenter Paddy McGuinness’s car skidded and left the road, coming to an almost immediate stop.

"Paddy was quickly taken to the production unit base for medical checks and is unhurt.

"No other vehicles were involved and the police, who had been monitoring filming, were quickly on the scene to assist.

"Safety on Top Gear is always the production team’s priority and the vehicle’s speed at the time was within the road’s limit of 60mph.”

North Yorkshire Police confirmed that no one was injured, and no other cars were involved in the crash.
