AREAS of Oxfordshire have been without running water for more than 36 hours after a major leak.
Residents in part of Wantage and Grove have now been without water for days on end after a burst pipe started swamping the A34 between Milton and Chiltern junctions.
Thames Water set up a water bottle drive-through collection station at Challow Childrey Cricket Club but for residents who simply could get there volunteers stepped up to the mark.

On a post on the Wantage and Grove Community one lady said: “So proud to live in Wantage amongst such caring people who, yet again, are rallying round at this time to get water to people who need it. Well done Chris Hubbard and all your wonderful helpers.”

More than 100 people reacted to the post, others praising the ‘fabulous community spirit’ and ‘lovely people’ who came to their rescue.
Thames Water said on its website that it is now ‘finalising’ repairs on the burst pipe and apologised for the stress that it has caused.
