A MAN who ripped tiles from roofs and hurled them into the street below is to be sentenced next month after admitting his guilt.

Police cars and other vehicles were damaged after Jamie Cooper climbed up on the roof of terraced homes in Phethean Street, Farnworth, on June 11.

Police had to seal off the street until late in the afternoon as tiles rained down onto the roadway.

At Manchester Magistrates' Court 28-year-old Cooper pleaded guilty to damaging three police vehicles, using threatening behaviour, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage to the chimneys and roofs of six properties, damaging a Vauxhall Insignia, Toyota Corolla and another vehicle and assaulting a police officer.

Cooper, of Phethean Street, also admitted separate offences, committed on April 26, of drink driving in a VW Golf, dangerous driving in Hacken Lane and having no licence or insurance.

Copper was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at Bolton Crown Court on July 13.
