MORE irresponsible drivers have been fined for leaving their cars along a dangerous stretch of road.

Officers one again had to attend Grane Road this afternoon to fine a number of drivers following several reports of youths using the reservoirs for sunbathing and swimming.

Many of those had parked along the Grane Road to gain access to the area, blocking much of the main road and footpaths.

A police spokesman said: “Several tickets have been issued and will continue to be in the hope this deters people from frequenting this area and parking inconsiderately causing people to have to walk into the road which happens to be a 50MPH zone.

“Our message is clear, open water is dangerous and can result in a fatality which we are trying to prevent. I urge parents to help us in the task and keep your children from going to quarry and reservoir areas to swim.”
