EAST Lancashire’s good weather is to come to an abrupt end with a bang with a weather warning for thunderstorms in the coming days.
Flooding is to be expected over much of the county over the weekend as the Met Officer warn of extensive thunderstorms, putting an end to the heatwave experienced over much of the week.
The yellow weather warming for storms and flooding is in place from Friday leading into Saturday.
A spokesman said: “Flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
“Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life
“Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
“Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
“Some communities might become cut off if roads flood
“Power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be.”
However once the weather warning has passed the rain looks set to stay, with Sunday, Monday and Tuesday all set to be grey and drizzly.
