As we exit the coronavirus lockdown, a crucial part of keeping Covid at bay will be the NHS Test and Trace service.

If it’s going to work, it’s vital that everyone agrees to take part in it.

Test and Trace means that if you develop coronavirus symptoms - a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste - you can be tested quickly to see if you have the virus.

If you test positive, you should continue to self-isolate, along with those who live with you.

You will also receive a text, email or call from Test and Trace.

This will ask you for details of people you have had recent close contact with, and places you have visited.

Please provide this information as soon as possible, so that these people can be contacted.

Alternatively, Test and Trace may contact you, because you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive.

You will be told to self-isolate. It’s important to do this because, even if you feel fine, you could have the virus and spread it to others.

Beware scammers. Test and Trace will NOT:

• ask for bank details or payments

• ask for details of any other accounts, such as social media

• ask you to set up a password or PIN number over the phone

• ask you to call a premium rate number, such as those starting with 09 or 087.

Remember, the best way to protect yourself and others from coronavirus is to observe social distancing, wear a face covering where appropriate and wash your hands often.

If you develop symptoms, follow the self-isolation guidance and order a test immediately. Go to www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or ring 119 if you don’t have internet access.
