Bolton council has reopened its consultation into the Safe Streets Save Lives campaign on how streets and roads can be made safer as lockdown restrictions are eased.

The first round of consultations resulted in 2,260 responses with widened footpaths on Newport Street, Knowsley Street and Blackhorse Street already implemented.

The council has now reopened the consultation to give people an opportunity to say how well the temporary measures that have been installed are working.

Cllr Stuart Haslam, Executive Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: "We’ve had a great response from our residents and we are listening to what they’re saying about local issues and what measures they want to see put in place.

"The challenge of coronavirus means we have to think about how to make our streets safer whether that's with wider pavements, looking at crossings or additional cycle lanes, while ensuring that any measures introduced do not increase congestion and are not anti-motorist.

“By reopening the consultation we will get even more feedback which will help us to plan what we do."
