THE MP for Bolton West has praised the government’s announcement that local schools will benefit from funding to improve facilities.
An investment of £434 million has been established, with schools in Bolton West being allocated a share.
The money will be used to expand classrooms, upgrade buildings and improve children’s education.
It is part of the £1.4 billion of capital funding for 2020-21 announced in April.
MP Chris Green said: “Coping with Covid-19 has been incredibly difficult for everyone involved in our schools, not least the disruption that pupils have had to suffer.
“As we leave lockdown, I am glad that the government is looking to invest more money in our schools and ensure we have an improved learning environment.”
Education Secretary Gavin Williamson said: “My number-one focus will always be to make sure every student has access to excellent education and training.
“Replacing and upgrading poor-condition school and college buildings with modern, energy-efficient designs will give our students and teachers the environment they deserve, and support them to maximise their potential.”
