She should have been busy sitting her A level exams.

But with lockdown throwing a spanner in the works, sixth former Lizzie Crowther decided to make the most of her time at home by exploring one of her passions.

The Bolton News:

The Year 13 student, who attends Bolton School, has spent the last few months creating her very own food blog.

Lizzie, 18, has been busy cooking and photographing delicious dishes in order to build up her website before she heads off to university in September.

The Bolton News:

She said: "I have always loved cooking and my family and I have always prioritised home cooked food.

"However, I have definitely made it into more of a serious hobby during lockdown.

"I started just by wanting to document my favourite family recipes so I could have them in one place when I’m cooking on my own at university next year.

"But then I thought, given the fact I have so much time at the moment, why not learn how to build a website at the same time? So that’s why I decided to start the blog."

The Bolton News:
Lizzie's dad is a photographer, so she had plenty of expertise on hand when learning how best to capture her home-cooked creations.

The Bolton News:

She continued: "I have also always loved photography. I’ve found photographing all my dishes really fun too, and I’m definitely learning a lot as I go along. I enjoyed Food Tech at school all through middle school and got a 9 in my GCSE exam which I really enjoyed doing. I certainly learned a lot of valuable skills from it as a subject and from my teachers."

Lizzie's blog officially launched last week and can be viewed at

The website features a wide range of meals including traditional family favourites and healthy options like aubergine pesto pasta, as well as more decadent baking and dessert ideas, like cookie dough pots with white and milk chocolate.

Lizzie also has an Instagram page to show off her culinary creations, which can be found by searching @lizzielikesrecipes.
