A WOMAN and her dog required emergency treatment after they were attacked by a 'dangerously out of control' dog in a Bolton park.

The 48-year-old woman had been taking her dog for a Sunday walk in Central Park, Westhoughton, shortly after 1pm on May 17, when the incident happened.

During the walk they were approached by another dog which turned vicious.

The animal savagely bit the woman's pet and broke her finger as she tried to intervene.

The woman required hospital treatment for her injuries and her wedding ring had to be cut off by medics.

Her dog also required emergency veterinary care for its wounds.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with incident, police confirmed.

However, they did not reveal what breed the dog which attacked the woman and her pet was. 

Today, officers released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the attack.
