A DRUG dealer has been ordered to pay back more than £1,000 of his ill-gotten gains.
Mohammed Qasim, 26, was jailed for five years and two months in October 2019 after he was found on Bury Street in Bolton carrying a freezer bag containing 17 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine, worth a total of £310, on August 1 last year.
Four mobiles phones, which were continually ringing, were inside his Audi A4 vehicle and contained text messages from people requesting drugs. During a search of Qasim’s Castle Street home police also found £585 in a jacket pocket.
Following the incident, Qasim pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while banned, having no insurance, possessing heroin and cocaine with intent to supply, money laundering and possessing cannabis.
At a Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) hearing at Bolton Crown Court, Paul Treble, prosecuting, said a “benefit figure” of £1,445 had been agreed.
Judge Martin Walsh said Qasim must pay the money within two months or face a further one month sentence.
