A BOLTON dementia nurse service has been shortlisted for a national award.

The Admiral Nurse service has been named as a finalist in the commitment to Carers category of the RCNi Awards, which are hosted on behalf of the Royal College of Nursing.

Thanks to the support and education they provide carers and people living with dementia the service made it to the finals.

The shortlist recognises the hardwork of the dedicated team behind the service.

Bolton Admiral Nurse Kerry Lyons said: "It's never a right, but an absolute privilege, to be in a role where you are welcome in by a family and permitted to support them."

Each year the RCNi Nurse Awards celebrate the best nursing across the UK, their categories cover everything from projects to examples of patient care.

The awards ceremony will take place virtually later this year.

Last year RCN ambassador and Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke gave a speech at the event.
