Local businesses have been taking advantage of a scheme by one of the UK's biggest businesses to help them adapt to operating post-lockdown.

Bolton businesses including Greenhalgh bakery, Positive Steps, and Party and Play Fun House and the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce were invited round Amazon's fulfillment centre in Over Hulton to see how it had implemented measures to keep staff and customers safe after opening amid lockdown restrictions easing.

The tours took place between June 11 to 25.

Nicolas Verdon, Site Leader at Amazon Bolton, said: "We were delighted to be able to show members of the Greater Manchester Chambers of Commerce first-hand how we have implemented a range of measures to keep our people safe in Bolton while continuing to serve our customers.

"We're proud to be part of the Bolton business community and want to do all we can to help fellow chamber members return to work safely and effectively whatever their line of work or occupation."

The local businesses that were taken on the tour commented how useful this has been for them.

Trevor Heaton, Greenhalgh bakery's health and safety officer, who visited the site on June 22, said: "Awesome tour highlighting the really great practical applications of Covid safety measures."

Catalina Sastre, owner of Party and Play Fun House, in Westhoughton, said: "The tour allowed me to look at Amazon’s processes and see how those processes could be adapted for when we open to the public.

"The tour gave me the confidence and the reassurance that these ideas are best practice, for us as an organisation, to go that extra mile to give people a sense of security."
