ANTONI Sarcevic is poised to become Wanderers’ second signing of the summer – with a deal expected to be announced this week.

The Manchester-born midfielder is believed to have turned down the chance to sign for Salford City and Mansfield Town to agree a move to the University of Bolton Stadium.

Sarcevic, 28, scored 10 goals for Plymouth Argyle last season as they gained promotion to League One and also won the club’s player of the year award. But he turned down the offer of an extended contract at Home Park to return to his native North West and is now understood to have agreed personal terms.

Speaking about his decision to leave Plymouth, Sarcevic said at the end of last week: “Seasons like last season don’t come along (all the time). They are special ones.

“Of course, it’s a massive risk my decision to leave Argyle having built such a great relationship with the club, the fans.

“Getting that promotion, it was a massive decision but it's one I have confidence in my ability.”

It remains to be seen whether Sarcevic’s arrival will affect any plans to sign Blackpool’s Jamie Devitt, who has also been strongly linked with a move to Bolton in the last few days.

The 30-year-old spent time on loan at Bradford City last season and started his career with Hull City.
