Horwich Heritage Centre will see a phased reopening from next week.
Initially the centre will open two days a week, Mondays 2-4pm and Fridays 10-12pm.
To control the number of visitors, people will have to book a time slot in advance via an email address on the website.
A full risk assessment at the centre has been carried out and safety measures are in place, including social distancing, hand sanitiser, gloves and masks.
The centre's chairman, Stuart Whittle, said "We are pleased to announce that, following the relaxing of lockdown restrictions, we will be reopening the Horwich Heritage Centre on a limited basis from Monday July 20.
"We do hope that whether you want to look at our archives, buy a book or dvd, or look at our latest Rivington Terraced Garden exhibition, you will feel able to come along.
"We look forward to seeing you."
