A PRESTWICH man caught with a samurai sword at a motor dealers has been jailed for six months.
Patrick O'Brien, 39, had the weapon at Liv Motors, in Poppythorn Lane, on June 27, Manchester magistrates heard.
The blade of the sword measured around 12 inches, the court was told.
O'Brien, of Glebelands Road, also caused a commotion on the Metrolink system on the same day.
He pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and using threatening or abusive behaviour towards Lauren Greenough on the tram.
Magistrates ruled that a jail sentence was justified as O'Brien had two previous convictions for carrying weapons.
He was also given a 16-week concurrent sentence for his conduct on the tram in light of his previous criminal record.
