A TEENAGER caught riding an off-road motorbike on the street has been fined £100.

The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was riding the Kawasaki Showa motorbike on Romney Road, Johnson Fold, on April 13.

At Wigan Youth Court he admitted riding the bike with no licence or insurance.

As well as the fine, he was ordered to pay £107 in costs and charges and was banned from applying for a driving licence for six months.

Police seized the bike as part of a crackdown in the town on off-road bikes being ridden in public places.

A police statement said: "If you see bikes like this being ridden on a road or public place, please contact 101 or use the live chat function on our website."
