Two people were rescued from a domestic fire in Blackburn in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Firefighters arrived at the scene on Heatley Close with three engines at around 5.08am where they used six breathing apparatuses and two positive ventilation fans to extinguish the blaze.

Two people were retrieved from the property with one then taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.

Fire crews remained at the scene for three hours.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue service are not able to comment on what started the fire but say that an investigation involving Blackburn with Darwen Police CID is ongoing.
