A BANNED driver who was caught behind the wheel of a Ford Transit van has been jailed for 20 weeks.
Nicholas Howarth, aged 47, of Charles Street, Bolton, was stopped driving the van in Station Road, Salford on July 18 last year.
Howarth had no insurance and was disqualified from holding a driving licence.
Cannabis was found on him but he failed to provide a breath specimen when required by police.
At Manchester Magistrates' Court Howarth, who has previous convictions, pleaded guilty to driving whilst banned, having no insurance, failing to provide a specimen and driving without reasonable consideration for other road users.
In addition to the jail sentence, Howarth was ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge and banned from applying for a licence for three years.
