The coronavirus has shaken up the UK’s travel plans for the summer, leaving us uncertain about going abroad.

However, a UK holiday is still on the cards and it’s entirely possible to replicate your foreign holiday right here in Warrington (or at least nearby).

If you’re not going abroad this year, there here are five ways you can recreate your foreign holiday without travelling far from home:

Head to the beach

Relaxing on the beach, with a book in hand, is an essential part of many people’s holiday.

However, you don’t need to travel abroad in order to get to the beach- while you aren’t guaranteed to have Spanish sunshine, you can visit some great beaches.

Wallasey beach is one of the nearest to Warrington and it’s around a 45 minute drive to get there.

This beach is popular with kite surfers and there is a grassy area and sheltered area for those who want to tuck into a picnic.

Crosby and Formby are also close.

Eat at an exotic restaurant 

Eating out and trying some exotic food is a huge part of the holiday experience- and you can replicate it in Warrington.

Las Ramblas Wine & Tapas can provide a taste of Spain and Italy, right here in Warrington town centre.

This restaurant has a 4.5 star rating on Trip Advisor and it is ranked as the number one Mediterranean restaurant in Warrington.

The tapas sharer is popular at the restaurant- one person on Trip Advisor said the sharer was excellent value for money, writing: “The food was absolutely fantastic!”.

Some people use their holiday to explore the culture and monuments in the area while on holiday- you can do the same in Warrington.  

There might be hidden gem locations and unexplored areas right on your doorstep.

Warrington Museum & Art Gallery is a must-visit if you want to learn about local history.

Walton Hall and Gardens is great to explore with the family- there is even a free zoo on site.

If you’re on a walking holiday, then there are several picturesque routes to explore near Warrington. In Moore Nature Reserve ,there are more than 200 acres of woodland to explore, with lakes and pods to walk by.

Book some unique accommodation

You may be close to home but you can still book some unique accommodation to stay in.

Hollybank Caravan Park is a great camping and glamping site in Warrington.

Enjoy a drink…or two

You might not be able to enjoy a beer abroad, but there are still some excellent pubs in Warrington to visit.

You can visit some charming pubs in with a lot of character and history.

The Barley Mow is one of the oldest pubs in Warrington and dates back to the 1500s- if you haven’t been here already and you love old pubs, you should stop by on your UK holiday.
