POLICE closed the car park at a Trafford beauty spot after rumours of someone planning a large event.
Officers stopped visitors going into the Sale Water Park car park earlier this afternoon.
The move was said to be a temporary measure and people were told to avoid the area.
Police did not confirm any details of what the suspected large event was.
However, there were suggestions on social media that a dog meet-up had been arranged to take place at the Sale Water Park.
In a post on social media, GMP Trafford South said: "Police have temporarily closed the car park at Sale Water Park due to someone planning a large event. Please avoid the area."
The car park was closed for around 45 minutes and has since reopened.
