Bolton is home to a surprising amount of famous faces- some rose to fame through their athletic prowess, while others are known for their time on reality TV.

From Big Brother’s Helen Wood, to Scrappers’ Terry Walker, here are five famous faces from Bolton and some details about what they are up to now.

Ciarran Stott

This Bolton-born reality TV star rose to fame in 2019 when he appeared on the Australian verson of the TV show, The Bachelorette.

Prior to the show, Ciarran was a rifleman in the army- he is currently doing some modelling for Vivien’s model management agency.  

Helen Wood

Helen won the 2014 series of Big Brother, scooping the £100,000 prize- she also returned in series 16 as a “time warp” housemate.

Since leaving the show, Helen has written a biography called ‘A man’s world’ where she talks about her time as an escort; she has also been a regular columnist for the Daily Star newspaper.

According to her Twitter account, she is also a cosmetic tattooist.

Terry Walker

Terry Walker rose to fame in 2014 on British reality series, Scrappers. The series followed the life of a family as they run their Bolton-based scrap yard- Terry is the scrapyard owner.

The show had two seasons and a third one is yet to be announced or renewed.

Terry’s business, formerly known as Metro Salvage NW Ltd, is still going strong.

Nichola Holt

Nichola starred in the first ever series of Big Brother in 2000, and was known for her distinctive piercings and a shaven head. Although she didn’t win, she tickled viewers by making clay imprints of her naked body on the walls of the house

Shortly after the show, Nichola released a song called ‘The Game’. She is now said to be working in the textiles industry and living in Bolton with her daughter.

Tony Knowles

Tony had a colourful sporting career as a professional snooker player. Fans will remember his legendary match against Steve Davis in the eighties, when he defeated the defending champion by 10–1.

Knowles is now retired from the game and moved to the Lake District to run a hotel.
