FIREFIGHTERS freed a pigeon trapped in netting on the roof of Lloyds Bank.
One crew from Swindon Fire Station responded to a 999 call about the tangled bird on the High Street building at 3.27pm.
A spokeswoman for the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "A crew rescued a small trapped animal.
"They released a pigeon from the netting using the aerial platform and handed it over to a wildlife rescue representative."
Comments made online from people who claim to have been at the scene suggest that the pigeon had been trapped for hours or even as long as a day before it was rescued.
One said: "They should take the netting down. It's not nice sitting in the office watching pigeons get stuck and some die."
