A MAN has been charged with murder after a man died following a serious assault in Breightmet.
Christopher Walton, 23, of Mobberley Road, Breightmet, was charged with attempted murder and remanded in custody after a 46-year-old man was left fighting for his life.
The Crown Prosecution Service say Christopher Hardman was attacked outside a fish and chip shop on Winchester Way on July 13.
Police were called to the scene at around 10.20pm.
Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A forensics tents was set up as officers investigated the case.
Sadly, Mr Hardman died from his injuries eight days later on July 21.
Following the victim's death, Walton was recharged and is set to appear at Manchester Crown Court to face a count of murder in a plea and trial preparation hearing.
