A ROAD in Bury has been sealed off after a shooting involving a young man in the street.

Ten police cars and a tactical aid unit car are positioned at the top of Chesham Road.

One neighbour said there had been a shooting which he believed saw a young man seriously injured.

The casualty is understood to have been taken from the scene to hospital after receiving emergency care at the scene.

Several onlookers remain at the scene of the incident, which is just around the corner from Chesham Co-op.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Police are responding to a serious incident in Bury.

"Officers were called shortly after 9.35pm this evening, Wednesday, to reports of shots fired on Chesham Road.

"A teenage boy has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

"No arrests have been made and initial enquiries are underway.

"A scene is in place and a large high-visibility police presence will remain in the area."
