A SALE woman will be flying the flag for the area after reaching the final of Miss Greater Manchester.

Heather Gaulton will be keeping her fingers crossed at the event on September 5, where she could automatically qualify for the Miss England finals.

The 25-year-old , who has lived in Sale her entire life, needs the Trafford community to get behind her and vote for her

Heather said: “I love Greater Manchester and I would be beyond proud to represent what I think is the greatest city in the world!

“More than that, I want to represent ambitious women and be a positive role model for girls and young women.”

Heather was scouted for the Miss Greater Manchester competition whilst dancing at a club on a night out with her girlfriends.

She added: “I was completely surprised and shocked, as I would never have thought of doing something like this.

“But the more a looked into the competition, the more interested I became. This isn’t just a beauty pageant.

“The competition has many components and we have to demonstrate our interests, ambition, personality and beliefs. There is a naked beauty round, where we have to remove all our makeup, there is no size restrictions for entries and we even have to design and create an eco-friendly dress. For me, this is all about girl power, body positivity and being real women. To win would give me such a huge platform to promote women supporting women.”

As part of her campaign, the Trafford Leisure’s marketing content and campaign manager has chosen to support two charities that are close to her heart.

She has been collecting toiletries, sanitary products and makeup for ‘Elle for Elle’, a charity that supports fleeing victims of domestic abuse and the other is ‘One Woman at a Time’, for whom she climbed Snowdon for and raised £800.
