A SPECIAL panel will be set up to examine the impact of coronavirus on Bolton.

Cllr Martin Donaghy chairman of Bolton Council's health overview and adult services scrutiny committee put forward the idea of a special board at the last meeting.

It was approved by the scrutiny committee.

Cllr Donaghy said the special scrutiny review panel of inquiry into the covid-19 pandemic in Bolton would examined "how it affected our town".

He said: "This will be an inquiry which will be member led we will announce the membership of the special scrutiny panel as soon as we are able to and look at at all aspects and take information from everyone regarding this crisis and then we will make a report to council and more importantly a report to central government to at least give them an indication of how this terrible virus affected our town and what we did to address it."

The panel is set to announced in the near future.

It comes as Bolton, and the rest of Greater Manchester are subject to new lockdown measures to contain the virus.

The measures mean two households can no longer meet inside or in private gardens.
