A PLACE at Lancaster University awaits top student Cameron Rich.

The Sixth Form Bolton student achieved A* A and B to go on to read philosophy, politics and economics.

He said the year had felt strange — from not sitting exams to how the exams would be graded.

And he will be appealing his B grade in maths on the grounds of his mock examination grade — which would entitle him to a grant towards his degree studies.

He said: "It has been strange, but I felt I was quite lucky in that I had an unconditional offer so it took a lot of the stress of the unknown out of it.

"I would have quite like to sit my exams just so I had done them.

"It has been strange, you were thinking 'what are they going to do, how are they going to do this' —, there was so many ways of looking at it.

"It feels like we have a little asterisk to our grades because of this year."

He added: "I am happy with my results, but I am going to try and do the mock appeal. My university offers a grant if I get A* AA and I did have a A in the mock, so I may as well try and the college will do it all for me."

The Bolton News:

And it also all added up for trio Mahmud Ingar, Arshad Tailor and Roshan Abbass (pictured above) who achieved top results, with Mahmud and Roshan achieving triple distinction stars and Arshad scoring two A*s and distinction star in IT. They are all studying degrees in accountancy, finance and banking.
